Victor Hugo Cuevas is the Texan man identified for being involved in a tiger incident in the west Houston neighborhood. Cuevas, was arrested on May 10th. However, according to the Houston Police, the big cat was still set free.

Kaplan was spotted on Ivy Wall Drive on May 9. Shared footage from the stage shows Waller County MP Wes Manion, who was not on duty at the time, pointing a gun at the tiger in case he could become aggressive.

A second man, now identified as Cuevas, came out and told Manion not to shoot the tiger. A neighbor told KPRC-TV Cuevas that “he bent down and kissed the tiger and then took him by the collar” before taking the tiger inside. Police then said that he loaded the tiger into a Jeep Cherokee and walked away, even conducting a short chase with the police.

Cuevas’ lawyer, Michael Elliott, at a press conference on May 10, admitted in video footage that it was Cuevas. Elliott said that the Cuevas “caught” the tiger and brought it back into the house safely.
Elliott repeatedly insisted that the tiger did not belong to the Cuevas and that his client did nothing wrong. He also said that the police “assumed” that Cuevas was the same person walking away with the tiger in the jeep.

During the news conference, Elliot claimed there was “no evidence” to prove that the person behind the wheel was Cuevas. He added that the Cuevas don’t have a white SUV. Elliott said he didn’t know who got away with the tiger.

Manion’s assistant had previously explained to KPRC-TV that he was trying to prevent the driver from going with the tiger. Manion said the driver “cut down the neighbor’s garden” to avoid Houston Police officers when they arrived in the neighborhood. There was a short chase, but the SUV got off.
Elliott said he contacted federal and state officials before his arrest to help them find the tiger and the owner of the animal. The lawyer alleged that the Houston Police had “double crosses” and arrested his client “before we could finish helping them”.

Elliott said he arranged for Cuevas to turn himself into officials. However, according to Elliott, the Houston Police decided to arrest the Cuevas before the agreed time.

Cuevas was arrested at his parents’ home in the city of Richmond, Fort Bend County. Richmond is part of the Houston metro area.

Cuevas was taken to Fort Bend County Prison after 20:00. on May 10, according to prisoner records. He is accused of escaping arrest.

Cuevas faces a murder charge in Fort Bend County. Cuevas was charged with shooting and killing victim Osiekhuemen Omobhude on July 14, 2017, according to the Heavy testimony found on the Fort Bend County courts website. The fire occurred in a parking lot outside the Sushi Hana restaurant.

Witnesses told investigators that they saw two people firing guns as they got into the Omobhude vehicle. According to the affidavit, witnesses said they could see the faces of the shooters before they competed with motorcycles. At least one witness said he saw Cuevas pull on a “skull-patterned face mask” before fleeing the scene.

A witness later identified Cuevas from a series of photos. Cuevas was charged with murder. The AP reported that Cuevas were close during the tiger incident. Elliott told local media that Cuevas will hold a trial in July regarding his murder case. However, Elliott stated that he doubted the trial would proceed as planned due to the new arrest.
As Cuevas ‘attorney admits, the images from May 9 show Cuevas’ experience of dealing with exotic animals. However, the researchers were working to determine whether the Cuevas belonged to him or not.

Elliott denied that the tiger belonged to the Cuevas. Houston Police Commander Ron Borza told AP Cuevas that Houston’s house had two monkeys. However, as KTRK-TV reported, when the authorities searched the house, they could not find any other animals inside.

Cuevas’ Instagram account featured several photos and videos alongside exotic animals. The TV station reported that it found videos of the two monkeys, videos showing Cuevas feeding the baby bear, and photos “hugging a young tiger.”
