An American comedian and writer. He was in the writer cast of the Comedy Central Roast series. He also appeared as a roaster in All Def Digital Roast of Snoop Dogg, which aired on Fusion in 2016.

Hinchcliffe is an insulting comedian. Host of the comedy podcast Kill Tony. The one-hour stand-up special One Shot made its premiere on Netflix in 2016.

Born in Youngstown, Ohio, Hinchcliffe was raised in the north side of the city by his single mother. Hinchcliffe attended Ursuline High School, which graduated in 2002.

Hinchcliffe told The Free Times of Columbia, South Carolina that he grew up in a rough neighborhood and developed roasting as a defense mechanism for the first time.  In an interview with, he said that his insults punched him in the face on the school bus on the first day of school.

Tony Hinchcliffe is under fire after using racial slurs about an Asian stand-up comedian who introduced himself on the Austin comedy show. Peng Dang posted a video of the event on Twitter on May 11, 2021. The video sparked outrage on social media, including calls for “canceling Tony Hinchcliffe”.

After the Chinese Dang promoted Hinchcliffe at a May show at the Vulcan Gas Company in Austin, Hinchcliffe took the stage and said, “How about once again for that dirty little jerk? I was watching you throw up a damn bucket. ”Hinchcliffe then used a fake Asian accent and said,“ Oh, we’re making gunpowder. Oh, you want extra soy sauce. Oh, you’re borrowing money from us. “Switching to his normal voice, Hinchcliffe said,” And you’re eating it. Fuck you. “The clip then ends.

Hinchcliffe didn’t touch on the controversy around his comments, but the controversy has already had consequences for the comedian. Antone’s nightclub in Austin tweeted, “We are no longer working with Tony or hosting any of his shows. Antone strongly opposes all kinds of hate speech and racism.” Also, The Creek and the Cave in Austin on May 12. He was scheduled to perform with Joe Rogan in, but the owner said he would no longer appear on Facebook and was removed from promotional material on Instagram. And TMZ announced that the talent agency WME will no longer represent him.

Known for his insulting comedy and author of Comedy Central Roast, Hinchcliffe is a frequent guest on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast and is part of the group of comedians performing with Rogan at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles. In 2020, “Kill Tony” moved to Texas with podcast co-host Brian Redban and Rogan. Rogan plans to open a comedy club in Austin to turn the city into a stand-up hub.


Dang Says Shocked Hinchcliffe Makes Jokes Because He Speaks Against Anti-Asian Hate Just Before Introducing Himself

Dang posted the clip of Hinchcliffe on Twitter and wrote: “Last week I needed to mention Tony Hinchcliffe in Austin. This is what he said. Happy Asian (AAPI) Heritage Month! “Dang has been on shows in the past, including promoting him with Hinchcliffe before, according to his social media.

According to the Dang website, “A Chinese citizen doing stand-up comedy in the USA. A professional comedian, member of the Stars of Tomorrow and regularly performing at prestigious clubs such as The Improv Comedy Clubs and Hyena’s Comedy Nightclubs. … Born and raised in China. He moved to Alabama to study at university. Living as a Chinese citizen in the South inspired him early in comedy.

Dang told TMZ, “I don’t know your intention behind this. But I can say that I have been in this country for almost 11 years. I was living in Alabama, Georgia, Texas and had never heard anyone call me this swearing. That’s why I was very, very shocked when I heard it. … Ironically, I just got off the stage, my whole set was to stop Asian hatred. I had a lot of jokes about stopping Asian hatred. And the audience reacted really positively to that. I was getting applause breaks and laughter. But some of the audience was visibly disturbed when he said what he said. Especially female viewers. But I think those who laugh are a very small part of the audience. ”

Dang told TMZ that he was continuing with Hinchcliffe’s set, saying, “He talked about the Chinese jokes for another two minutes and once confronted him about the aggressive Chines jokes, and he said he fired this Chinese audience. In the longer clip, Hinchcliffe says, “This damn Chinese guy is standing right there, ‘What’s the matter buddy?’ I said. These tables are full. Like “you are making fun of Chinese people, I will beat you”. So I joke around for another 12 minutes in Chinese. Chinese jokes I’ve never had before. … ‘You have to go back to your seat, buddy. How this damn virus got started, people like you. ”

Dang told TMZ: “I can respect his profession as a comedian, if this is just his set, if this is part of his action, I wouldn’t say anything about it. My problem is that when you use the c-word, the Asian racist puzzle is what I mostly had trouble with. The video clip released by Dang has been viewed more than 1 million times on Twitter and YouTube and instantly sparked outrage about Hinchcliffe and spawned the hashtag #CancelTonyHinchcliffe.

Comedian Brooks Whelan tweeted, “Dude @TonyHinchcliffe, you’re always messed up. But this is the next step even for you. Tramp town.” cancel. They will say that no one can take the joke. No joke. No misdirection. No blink. The anger that he has to share the scene with someone who is not white. ”
