Suffolk County Police, Rodwin Allicock, 42, was working inside the grave in Washington Memorial Park on Mount Sinai on Thursday, and the strange accident occurred around 8.30pm, according to a press release from the suffolk County Police.
Colleagues attempted to dig the Coram resident through the tomb deeper than seven feet. First responders from the fire brigade in the four districts arrived, along with representatives from the Suffolk County Police Emergency Department, but Allicok could not be rescued. It was announced that Allicock was killed on the spot by a medical assistant from the Suffolk County Medical Center Office.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating the case in addition to the Suffolk County Police Murder Team. Social media posts from family members reveal that Allicock is married to his two young sons. He also got rid of his sisters living in Guyana.
According to their website, the Washington Memorial Park cemetery has been operating for more than half a century.
