North Yorkshire police confirmed the arrest of a man after footage of an alleged ‘street fight’ involving Sheffield United striker Oli McBurnie.

The video, released on social media on Sunday evening, showed a man who turned out to be Scotland’s international footballer in an argument with 21-year-old insurance broker Elliott Wright.

It seems that 24-year-old McBurnie approached the person before the filmed phone hit the ground.

He then stamped the phone before aiming a punch and kick at the man who filmed the footage, leaving him with a black eye.

Wright claims to have joked with McBurnie about the relegation of Sheffield United, which sparked the incident at Knaresborough.

He told The Sun: “I saw him arguing with this girl. I was with two friends and it was getting a little aggressive and noisy. I jokingly said, “Take it easy, mate, it can’t be worse than relegation.”
