She was shot by Metro Nashville Officer Josh Baker, who was shot himself into his torso with bullets from Holbert’s gun, and was then hospitalized for surgery. Following the clash, a clip of the fatal encounter was released by Metro Nashville Police. This showed that Holbert’s black Chevy Camaro was pulled aside after he realized that Baker’s registered owner of the sports car – Demond Buchanan, was wanted on unpaid drug charges. Holbert was alone in the car at the time and was taken calmly with Baker as he initially explained that the car did not belong to him. He came out of the Camaro and was filmed calling his mother for help while Baker searched for his bag.
However, the arrest escalated when the police officer saw what appeared to be marijuana and white powdery matter in the car and went to handcuff Holbert. ‘No, don’t handcuff me’ She shouted and started to run away with his bag, while Baker: ‘You’re about to be followed.’ Holbert shouted ‘No’, Baker told him ‘bow down’ twice.  fell to the ground ‘and went back to the driver’s seat of his car and shouted,’ I did nothing. Baker then saw Holbert reaching for his gun and shouted “Ma’am, lower your gun.” “I did nothing” before the last audible words fired at Baker, and fired back. When Baker fell to the ground, the Camaro’s driver door window shattered and Holbert was able to start the car. It was filmed at take-off and crashed into the Camaro at a nearby intersection. Emergency responders administered CPR to Holbert, who later died in hospital. Baker’s bullet hit his torso under his bulletproof vest. He is expected to survive his wounds. Nashville Metro Police posted body camera footage of the incident on their YouTube channel. Prosecutors from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Davidson County District Attorney’s Office are reviewing the images and will share their findings when the investigation is complete.
