Nick McGlashan, who found fame on the reality TV show Deadliest Catch, has died at the age of 33, his heartbroken family have confirmed. TMZ, based on the approval of a medical doctor and McGlashan’s family, the TV star died in Nashville on Sunday. Authorities did not reveal a cause of death.McGlashan, an experienced fisherman and crab, participated in Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch” in 2013. The series focuses on the highly leveraged efforts of fishermen who risk their lives to sail and transport the crabs.

The reality star, who became famous for the US documentary series Deadliest Catch, died in Nashville on Sunday. Hearing the news, a follower paid homage to Nick and wrote: “Nick McGlashan RIP.

“This guy was very good at #DeadliestCatch and I offer my condolences to Bill, the entire crew of Summer Bay and all of Nick’s family and friends.

Nick’s last Instagram post was posted less than three weeks before he died on December 12. It depicted a sunrise taken from inside an airplane and wrote: “Be the sunrise in someone’s life today.” Nick was a seventh generation fisherman who had struggled with alcohol and drug addiction for years. He was suspended from Deadliest Catch’s 13th series and went to rehab to dry it out, reaching the point where meth and heroin were thrown while dropping half a gallon of vodka each day.

He spent seven years on the show, appeared regularly from 2013 to 2020, and starred in 78 episodes. The tragedy came just months after the death of sailor Mahlon Reyes, one of the stars of the show.  Reyes passed away at the age of 38 in August in his hometown of Whitefish, Montana, days after suffering a heart attack. He survived the attack after being admitted to the hospital, but his consciousness did not regain, and his family decided to remove him from life support.

McGlashan’s sister also shared the news of her death on Twitter, where she posted a gloomy note that pays tribute. In the post, he confirmed that McGlashan “passed away”. “This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to go through,” he said, and asked his followers to “please hold your loved ones tight”.
