A young boy was pulled from an enormous 10-foot-deep avalanche that killed his parents and younger sister when a lodging was buried at a ski resort in the Arctic.
In Norilsk, Russia, it was feared that six people would be buried under deeper snow at -13F (-25C).
Tourists were sleeping in small houses when avalanches hit an area of 6500 square meters at the winter sports base.

Paramedics were working to save his life today, and he was reported to be in serious condition at the Norilsk hospital.
A video shows the moment that Makaer was miraculously alive, buried under the avalanche and a snow cover fell on the top of the mountain into an area thought to be safe from snow slides at the resort of Gora Otdelnaya.
His 38-year-old mother – not yet named – was pulled dead from the carnage.
As searches continued in darkness and blizzard conditions, the body of his father Vlad Popov, 45, was found along with his 18-month-old brother.
Ski resort boss Igor Shatalov said he was afraid that half a dozen more tourists would be buried due to avalanches.
This was not immediately confirmed by Russian officials, who said the searches were over.
Rescuers worked amid fear of a new fatal snow slide.
An emergency source said: ‘There is a recurring threat of avalanche crash right now. All security measures are taken. ‘
Volunteer savior Maksim Innikhov said, ‘We found some of the homes where the family of four stayed for vacation.
They were digging desperately to find a singing cellphone under the snow.
“The rescuers are trying to understand exactly where the signal is coming from,” he said.
‘People keep coming to help, most of them come to the field with their own shovels.
