Who Is Kevin Fox? Wiki, Bio, Wrongfully Charged, Daughter Murder, Many More Facts You Need To Know

Kevin Fox Wiki/Bio

Three-year-old Riley Fox from Wilmington, Illinois, was abducted from her home on the morning of June 6, 2004, while her brother and father were sleeping nearby. A search began for the young girl that day, but resulted in heartbreak as her body was tied with duct tape and drowned in a nearby stream.

The little girl’s father, Kevin Fox, became the primary suspect in the murder investigation, as authorities claimed his daughter’s behavior after her death was suspicious. They questioned Fox, who denied her involvement, and she agreed to take a polygraph test. According to court documents, Fox failed the lie detector that caused the authorities to question her for several hours until she admitted to accidentally killing her daughter.

Fox soon withdrew her confession and claimed that authorities had accused her of the murder of her daughter and forced her into a false confession. The confession led him to be charged with first-degree murder, a charge that could lead to a death sentence if convicted.

Kevin Fox Released and Charges Dropped When His Attorney Is Compelled For DNA Testing Of Saliva Samples

After eight months in prison, the charges against Fox were dropped when DNA tests found on Riley Fox’s body removed Fox from the scene. According to a press release, the State Attorney who inherited the Fox murder case in June 2005 dropped all charges against Kevin Fox immediately after the DNA results were released. According to the statement, the DNA was immediately collected from Riley Fox’s body, but had not been tested against Kevin Fox’s DNA prior to the murder charge.

The State Attorney then asked the FBI for help investigating the case in 2008, and in 2009 they identified Scott Eby as a potential suspect. According to the press release, Eby finally consented to provide a DNA sample that matched the DNA found in Riley Fox’s body, and then wrote a lengthy confession that confessed to the murder.

About five months after being charged with first-degree murder and predatory criminal sexual assault on a child in the death of Riley Fox, Eby pleaded guilty to court. The Innocence Project reported that he confessed to the crime and said that he had been drinking and using drugs that night, which caused Fox to break into his home and harass the three-year-old girl.

The organization said that she later kidnapped the young girl and tied her with duct tape and abused her again. Eby admitted that he panicked when Riley realized that she had seen Fox’s face and killed him in the creek at the time.

According to Project Innocence, Kevin Fox testified in court after Eby pleaded guilty and told his daughter’s murderer: “I always wondered what he did with your freedom. If you are lying, watching TV or choosing your next victim. From now on, you will no longer be a part of my memories of my daughter. ”

Kevin Fox Won a Civil Rights Case Against Will County for Unjust Imprisonment and Malicious Prosecution and Given $ 8 Million

Kevin Fox filed a civil suit against Will County, alleging that his daughter was accused of rape and murder, and that he was wrongfully imprisoned and prosecuted in bad faith. A federal jury signed with Fox in 2007, and the family was awarded $ 12.2 million, the Chicago Tribune reported.

According to the outlet, in 2010 the case went to the 7th Circuit Court of Appeal, which approved the verdict but lowered the debt to the Foxes to $ 8 million.

The court said the authorities lacked possible motives for arresting Fox and collected “extremely weak evidence”. “We thought it was a striking reprimand to the accused’s entire case. I don’t think we could get a better result,” said Kathleen Zellner, the family’s lawyer.
