Veteran actor John Reilly, best known for his 90210 roles in General Hospital and Beverly Hills, has passed away.

Reilly’s daughter, social media star Caitlin Reilly, announced the news of her father’s death on Instagram on Sunday. The cause of death was not disclosed.

“John Henry Matthew Reilly AKA Jack. The brightest light in the world has gone out,” Caitlin wrote next to a throwback photo of the father-daughter couple. “Imagine the best person in the world. Now imagine that that person is your father. I am grateful that he is mine. I am so grateful to love him. I am so grateful for keeping him on time, and say goodbye.”

“I really don’t know what to do, but I know he’ll be with me,” Caitlin added. “I love you forever dad.

John Reilly Died Biography

Born in Chicago, Reilly began his television acting career in the 1960s with guest roles on Death Valley Days, Apple’s Way and Gunsmoke. In 1984, he starred as Roy Ralston in six episodes of Dallas.

After Dallas, Reilly starred at General Hospital as WSB agent Sean Donely. After choosing not to renew his contract, he left the show in 1994 and played a role for 11 years. His character was removed from the show the following year when he moved out of town with his onscreen wife, Tiffany Hill (Sharon Wyatt).

Reilly went on to appear in several episodes of Beverly Hills as Bill Taylor, Kelly Taylor’s (Jennie Garth) usually disappeared father in 90210. He also had recurring roles as Del Douglas on Sunset Boulevard from 1997 to 1999 and on Alistair Crane on Passions from 2005 to 2008.

Reilly reprized his role as General Hospital for the season 2 finale of the show’s spin-off General Hospital: Night Shift in 2008. He played Sean again for the 50th anniversary of the original soap in 2013.
