who was stabbed to death in a targeted attack on Boxing Day as the police launched a murder investigation.
Whitchurch suffered fatal stab wounds at an address in Hickings Lane, Stapleford, less than 5:30 PM Saturday.

His mother gave emotional homage to “his wonderful son, whose whole life is ahead of him.”
He was hastily taken to Queen’s Medical Center in Nottingham, but died Tuesday afternoon.
Joe’s mother, Lisa Kilkenny, said: “He was a nature athlete and a particularly good swimmer who loved nothing but spending time with his friends and family.” He said that his son had started studying engineering at Nottingham College before the attack.
We are heartbroken because it was taken from us this way, but always keeps his memory – especially his famous broad smile, which can really light up any room.
We would also like to thank the staff at QMC who worked hard to save Joe’s life while trying to accept what happened as a family, and the Air Ambulance team for their assistance.
Finally, I would like anyone with any additional information about what is happening to immediately report it to the police and help us achieve justice for Joe. ‘
The investigation is led by Detective Inspector Steve Wragg of the Nottinghamshire Police.
He said: ‘A murder investigation has been initiated and the detectives are working around the clock to ascertain exactly what Joe happened to him early Saturday morning.
It is tragic for a child to die under any circumstances, but entering a young life in this way is particularly shocking.
“As we continue our work to investigate the circumstances of Joe’s death, I would like to thank the local community for their continued help and support.”
Inspector Kevin Broadhead also said additional police patrols have been deployed to “reassure” residents in the area.
Jake Rollinson, 20, from Hickings Lane, Stapleford, was charged with attempted murder and arrested on Sunday.
