Maryland woman sits on a lawn chair after she allegedly burned down her house

Gail Metwally, 47, currently facing attempted murder and other charges, was caught on camera sitting with a book in her lap as her house in Elkton was on fire.

“She just set the trash can on fire!” An unidentified man describes it in the video as the flames begin to spread inside.

“Oh my god, this is not happening right now! F-burned down the king’s house! Oh my God! I can’t believe my eyes actually. I can’t actually believe it and She just shudders – watching the house rise in flames!”

He continues: “Yeah, I’m watching it come down! Oh my God, this has turned into something serious now!”

After a few minutes, the fire covers the entire structure and emits thick clouds of smoke as sirens from incoming fire trucks glow in the background.

Hearing a woman screaming from the basement, witnesses rushed to hell and helped her escape, Delaware News Journal reported.

Metwally was one of the four residents of the house. By the time it was burned around 13:00, the other two were not at home. Fire officials said on Thursday.

According to the State Fire Department, lawmakers from the Cecil County Sheriff’s Office arrested the alleged arsonist near the scene.

She was accused of lighting multiple fires inside the house before wandering outside and observing handicrafts from the chair and then walking away. Metwally was accused of attempted first and second-degree murder, first-degree arson, first-degree assault, twice malicious burning, twice malicious destruction of property, and twice reckless endangerment.

She was being held in the Cecil County Detention Center until the District Court hearing.

A possible cause of the fire was under investigation and his relationship with the rescued woman was uncertain.
