The brother of the Georgia cop who was killed on Saturday’s first day said Dylan Harrison “dedicated his life to serving the public” and took a job as a part-time officer to buy his family a home.

Authorities arrested 43-year-old Damien ‘Luke’ Anthony Ferguson on Sunday for the murder of 26-year-old Harrison, according to the FBI.
The Alamo Police Department said Harrison arrested Ferguson’s friend during a traffic stop before he was killed. Rookie cop, who was on his first part-time shift with the agency on Friday evening, stopped the suspect, whose name has not been released, for a traffic violation in the parking lot of Circle K, just across from the police station. ‘We’ve all talked to him. We all encouraged him because we knew the dangers. We knew the direction this world was going and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better. It’s getting worse day by day,’ said David Harrison.
Dylan Harrison had a post at technical college, but his brother said he knew it wasn’t for him.
Our uncle is an electrician, so he had a plan, but we all knew deep down that this was not what he wanted to do.
“Actually, he told my father just a few weeks ago when he was talking about them. “Daddy, that’s what I was sent here for,” he said. He knew that. As an electrician, he could never have been happy,’ he added.
He began his career in law enforcement in 2018 as the Oconee Drug Task Force Representative, but his brother said he took the new job in the police department to save money to buy his family a home. The Georgia Department of Public Safety said on Sunday that Ferguson was arrested less than a mile from where Harrison was killed on Saturday.

Ferguson was considered armed and dangerous. He was eventually arrested at his home in the Alamo and charged with murder and heavy stalking in connection with an earlier local incident.
GBI spokesperson Natalie Ammons said on Sunday evening that she is currently being held at Laurens County Prison in Dublin, Georgia.
Special Agent Wilkes said law enforcement had offered a $17,500 reward for information leading to Ferguson’s arrest prior to his arrest.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp said in a tweet Saturday afternoon.
“Early this morning, one of our law enforcement officers in Central Georgia was killed in the line of duty,” Kemp said on Twitter.

Sim Davidson, the nearby Telfair County sheriff, expressed similar condolences.
“Our deepest thoughts, prayers and condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Dylan Harrison, who was killed in the line of duty at the Alamo last night,” Davidson said in a Facebook post.
