David Anthony Gracia Wiki
A suspect was arrested in the death of an 18-year-old Florida boy whose body was found in the swamp.
On Tuesday, 18-year-old Charlie Roberts, Jr. He reportedly disappeared after his family traced his cell phone to the Green Swamp Wildlife Management Area, a nature reserve in Central Florida.
Sumter County officials began searching for Roberts in a densely forested, swampy area that covers 50,000 acres in three counties. When they found his body, they used helicopters, ATVs and drones until Wednesday night.
Although no official cause of death has been established, officials believe Roberts was shot and killed. On Thursday, Lakeland’s David Anthony Gracia was arrested on first-degree murder charges related to Roberts’ death. The relationship between Roberts and the alleged killer is unknown. The police did not give a reason.
Gracia is being held in the Sumter County Detention Center without paying bail. As the authorities continue to investigate Roberts’ death, the boy’s family seeks justice.
His young cousin William Gamble told Fox13, “I want the person to be judged to the end. It was a family member, a child, nobody deserves death.”
Gamble also hopes to get some answers about the murder of his loved one.
“What makes you want to kill a child? He did it wrong enough to deserve death … and be left where he left off?” he said, station reports.
The investigation into Roberts’ death continues.
