‘It’s just terrible’: a 4-year-old was found dead on Dallas street, police say; suspect is arrested
Authorities said on Sunday that a suspect was arrested in the murder of a 4-year-old boy whose body was found lying on a neighborhood street in Dallas.

The Dallas Police Department said in a statement that 18-year-old Darriynn Brown was charged with kidnapping and theft. In the statement, it is added that investigators expect more accusations when the results of forensic medicine come.

The police received a phone call at 6:50 am on Saturday that a child had died on a street in the neighborhood.

Police spokesperson Albert Martinez told Dallas Morning News that the boy died violently by “a rimmed gun”. The boy’s name was not disclosed, but Martinez said authorities believed he lived in the southwestern Dallas neighborhood where he was located.

“We are shocked, we are very angry about what happened to this little boy,” Martinez told the newspaper. Brown is being held in Dallas County Prison with a $ 750,000 bond, according to records. No other information was available about his arrest. Antwainese Square, 39, told Morning News that he warned authorities after seeing the boy’s body while running on Saturday morning. He said that the boy’s face and upper half of his body were covered in blood and he had no shoes or shirts.
“I mean, knowing that someone out there can kill a child, that’s just uncomfortable,” he said.

Lila Gilbert, 18, told the newspaper that she was walking down the road to the crime scene and saw the boy. At one point, the blanket covering her fell off and she saw what looked like blood and bite marks on her face. “There’s a lot to be accepted,” Gilbert said. “It’s so shocking to me that at 4 years old, somebody has a baby. This could have been my little cousin or my brother. That’s where he goes now. It’s just scary.”

The Federal Bureau of Investigation was involved in the investigation into the murder. On Saturday afternoon, they were focusing on a forested trail not far from where the body was found. The path, which the neighbors said was popular for cycling, was covered with the crime scene tape.
