Police said authorities were trying to arrest Teague for a heavy attack warrant in the February 2 incident prior to the fatal encounter.

Police followed Teague for over an hour, and to escape, Teague took the wrong route on the I-270 and eventually crashed into two more vehicles within minutes.

According to WBNS-TV, Chief Deputy Jim Gilbert of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said Teague got out of the vehicle and exchanged gunshots with a Columbus police officer and an aide.

Teague, who has a long criminal record, including arrests for gun possession, domestic violence, theft and drug trafficking, was killed in the action. Investigators found a gun at the scene.

Teague’s cousin, HK Woods, told The Post by phone that he was having problems with the probation officer, and that “pushed him aside”. “He came out the only way he could,” said Woods.

The man’s 18-year-old son, identified by New York law enforcement as Saadiq Teague, was caught Friday afternoon by NYPD police with an AK-47 assault rifle and a gas mask at the Times Square subway station.

Saadiq, a resident of Ohio, was detained peacefully around 12:30 pm. On the mezzanine floor of the metro station outside of lines A, C and E. He was not immediately charged.

Sources say that when uniformed transport cops spotted him, the teenager was sitting and charging his cell phone inside the station, and he was clearly visible with the gun next to him.

According to sources, the AK-47 was empty, but the teenager had a full magazine with a gas mask in his backpack.

Saadiq told the police that he thought it was legal to carry an empty rifle with ammunition stored separately in New York, a senior police source.

Sources said that the FBI was also involved in the investigation.

Woods told him that he had lost contact with Saadiq in recent years, but that he is a good kid who enjoys playing football.

An Ohio man who describes himself as Saadiq’s uncle was stunned by the news Friday.
